First Day Cancellation / Ensipäivänleima

The official First Day Cancellation is heart-shaped with text ”Första Dagen” (First Day). This cancellation is used on official First Day envelopes. It can be used also on any other items (postcards etc), but it can be used ONLY on Postcrossing stamp, not any other Åland stamps. This cancellation is in use only on Friday, June 7, and can be obtained from our event on Friday.

Postcrossing-postimerkin virallinen ensipäivänleima on sydämen muotoinen, Första Dagen (ensipäivä) -tekstillä varustettu leima. Leimaa käytetään mm. virallisissa ensipäivän erikoiskuorissa. Leiman voi pyytää myös postikortteihin, mutta huomaa, että leimalla leimataan VAIN Postcrossing-postimerkkiä, ei muita Ahvenanmaan postimerkkejä. Leima on käytössä 7.6. ja sen saa tapahtumastamme perjantaina.

Postcrossing Special Cancellation / Postcrossing erikoisleima

On the June 7 there is available also a special cancellation to celebrate the issuing of Postcrossing stamp. This cancellation is used on official maximum card. It can be used to ANY Åland stamp, not only Postcrossing stamp. This cancellation is in use only on Friday, June 7, and can be obtained from our event on Friday.

Tätä leimaa voi käyttää MIHIN TAHANSA ahvenanmaalaiseen postimerkkiin, ei ainoastaan Postcrossing-postimerkkiin. Leima on käytössä 7.6. ja sen saa tapahtumastamme perjantaina.

First Day Cover

FDC (First Day Cover) is available only on issuing date. It is a special envelope, custom made for the Postcrossing stamp. Envelopes are being sold also without stamp. Designer of the stamp, Cecilia Mattsson, is at the event and you can get her signature on FDC if you like.

First Day Cover 2,60€, FDC envelope without stamp 0,80€.

Ensipäivänkuori

FDC (ensipäivänkuori) on myynnissä vain postimerkin ilmestymispäivänä. Kuori on valmistettu varta vasten Postcrossing-postimerkkiä varten. Kuoria myydään myös sellaisenaan, ilman postimerkkiä. Postimerkin suunnittelija, Cecilia Mattsson, on myös paikalla tapahtumassa, ja signeeraa pyydettäessä.

Did you know, that while you are aboard M/S Amorella and/or M/S Viking Grace, you have a fantastic opportunity to get something very special to your postcards?

If you write a postcard or letter on a ship, you can use the stamps of Åland or Finland. The officer can hand over the mail to the local post office at any port along the route, and it will be delivered without extra fees.

This particular mail is stamped firstly with ship cancellation, and secondly, it will be cancelled with a post office postmark of the port city with additional Navire text on it. What this means is that Åland stamp can have a Turku Navire cancellation, Swedish stamp can have a Mariehamn Navire cancellation etc., and they are all valid, and of course, exclusive.

Furthermore, on Viking Line, every ship has its own custom stamp (provided by Åland Post) which are available only on that particular ship.

On the picture you see how those custom postage stamps and Navire cancellations of Turku and Mariehamn look like.

You can’t select from which port city your mail will be delivered. It’s either Turku or Mariehamn.

I have agreed with Viking Line that custom stamps are for sale for us both on M/S Amorella conference facilities and M/S Viking Grace info desk (next to conference facilities).

Tiesitkö, että ollessasi M/S Amorellalla ja/tai M/S Viking Gracella, sinulla on upea mahdollisuus saada jotain erityistä postikortteihisi?

Kun lähetät postikortin tai kirjeen laivalta, voit käyttää Suomen tai Ahvenanmaan postimerkkejä. Laivalta posti siirretään reitin jonkin satamakaupungin paikallispostiin edelleen kuljetettavaksi ilman lisämaksua.

Näin käsiteltävä laivaposti leimataan ensinnäkin laivan omalla leimalla, ja toisekseen satamakaupungin erityisellä Navire-lisätekstillä varustetulla leimalla. Näin ollen postilähetyksessä saattaa olla Ahvenanmaan postimerkki Turun Navire-leimalla, tai Ruotsin postimerkki Maarianhaminan Navire-leimalla jne. Tästä sekamelskasta huolimatta kaikki lähetykset ovat validia postia, ja tietenkin erikoisuuksia.

Viking Linen aluksilla on myynnissä lisäksi omat laivakohtaiset postimerkit (Åland Postin tuottamat), joita myydään vain kyseisillä aluksilla.

Et voi valita mistä satamasta postisi lähetetään edelleen. Käytännössä postitus tapahtuu joko Turusta, tai Maarianhaminasta.

Olen sopinut Viking Linen kanssa, että laivapostimerkkejä on myynnissä sekä M/S Amorellan konferenssitiloissa, että M/S Viking Gracen infopisteessä (konferenssitilojen vieressä).

Maximum Card

Maximum Card is basically a postcard with matching card theme, stamp, and cancellation on front side of the card. Åland Post is issuing the first ever official Postcrossing theme maximum card. Maximum Card is also prepaid, so there is no need to buy extra stamp for it if you want to mail it. Just write the address and message and drop it to mailbox. Maximum Card is available at our event on June 7.

Meetup Cards

The Association will print a set of two different meetup cards. Pictures are taken by a local photographer, Niclas Nordlund, whose photos have been used in stamps, too. Niclas took a photo for example to Åland’s Europa stamp in 2017.  The first postcard illustrates a typical wooden boat in Kökar, Åland Islands. The second postcard is illustrating the famous Kastelhom Castle in sunrise.

Miittikortit

Yhdistys julkaisee kahden erilaisen miittikortin setin. Kuvat on ottanut paikallinen valokuvaaja, Niclas Nordlund, jonka kuvia on käytetty myös postimerkeissä. Niclaksen kuvaa käytettiin mm. Ahvenanmaan Europa-postimerkissä 2017. Ensimmäisessä postikortissa on perinteinen puuvene Kökarissa, Ahvenanmaalla. Toista postikorttia kuvittaa Kastelholmin linna auringonnousun valaisemana.

Postage Boat Race Special Card

On Friday 7 June is the last possible day to order a very special postcard. It can be done at the first day event.

You can order then the Postal Boat Race commemorative card with this year’s special cancel and “across-the-sea” cancel and send your mail items across the Sea of Åland the old-fashioned way. This year’s race sets off from Grisslehamn in Sweden to Eckerö in Åland on Saturday 15 June.

All participating postal boats carry a bag of mail to commemorate the peasants in Swedish Väddö and Åland Eckerö who were obliged to convey mail and passengers across the Sea of Åland in all kinds of weather.  The obligation to convey the mail lasted for almost 400 years and did not end until the early 1900s.

Some 50 peasant boats with crews of four participate every year. Participants are required to wear contemporary clothes, and the boats must also be true to the period. The goal is to cross the Sea of Åland as quickly as possible and, depending on the wind and weather conditions, the 44 km crossing takes anywhere from 3½ to 6 hours. The boat and team acquiring the highest total score for clothing, boat and speed wins.

The commemorative card is cancelled with the special cancellation. It also has a special commemorative cancel, which serves to certify that the mail has, in fact, been carried across the Sea of Åland by a peasant mail boat.

Since 1974, the Postal Boat Race is organized by Roslagen Marine History Society and Eckerö Local History Society in cooperation with Swedish PostNord and Åland Post.

Postisoudun erikoiskortti

Hanki Postisoudun hieno muistokortti vuoden erikoisleimalla sekä ”meren yli” -leimalla ja lähetä postisi Ahvenanmeren yli entisajan tapaan. Tämän vuoden kilpailu soudetaan 15. kesäkuuta Ruotsin Grisslehamnista Ahvenanmaan Eckeröön. Korttien ja postin viimeinen tilaus- ja jättöpäivä on 7. kesäkuuta.

Jokainen postisoutuvene, joka osallistuu Postisoutuun, kuljettaa mukanaan postisäkkiä muistuttamaan Ruotsin Väddön ja Ahvenanmaan Eckerön talonpoikia, jotka joutuivat kuljettamaan sekä postia että matkustajia Ahvenanmeren yli säällä kuin säällä. Postia soudettiin lähes 400 vuotta aina 1900-luvun alkupuolelle saakka.

Kilpailuun osallistuu joka vuosi noin 50 talonpoikaisvenettä, ja nelimiehinen miehistö on pukeutunut vanhanajan vaatteisiin. Lisäksi veneen kuuluu olla entisajan mukainen. Tarkoituksena on ylittää 44 km pituinen matka Ahvenanmeren yli mahdollisimman nopeasti. Sää- ja tuuliolosuhteista riippuen matkaan kuluu 3½ – 6 tuntia. Se vene, joka saa eniten pisteitä vaatetuksesta, veneestä ja nopeudesta, voittaa.

Postisoudun muistokortti leimataan vuoden erikoisleimalla sekä lisäksi erityisellä muistoleimalla, joka todistaa, että lähetys on ollut mukana postisoutuveneessä Ahvenanmerellä.

Hotel Cikada has free wi-fi and it enables recognition of location as Åland Islands. Connect your mobile phone, tablet, or laptop to hotel wi-fi and take your addresses then while in Travel Mode.

Warmup Meetup

A new record even with the warmup meetup, 40 of us will participate.

Warmup meetup is unofficial, relaxed event, to launch preparations for our postcards and meet other adventurers. Meetup will be in Hotel Seaport Restaurant, next to Viking Line Terminal in Turku Port. There is no official starting time nor ending time. Association staff will be at place beginning from 19.00 until the last one leaves. So, just come whenever you feel so. You will not be late even if you come later.

Those who participate the warmup meetup, will get their meetup envelope(s) already at Hotel Seaport. Others will get them in M/S Amorella.

Please notice, that the kitchen at Hotel Seaport closes at 22.00. The bar is open until midnight.

Lämmittelymiitti

Uusi osallistujaennätys lämmittelymiitin osalta, 40 postcrossaajaa!

Lämmittelymiitti on täysin epävirallinen, rento tapahtuma, ikään kuin varaslähtö korttien valmisteluun. Osallistumalla jää matkan miittiosuuksissa aikaa hitusen muuhunkin, ja tapaat jo muita matkalaisia. Miitti pidetään hotelli Seaportin ravintolassa, Viking Linen terminaalin vieressä Turun satamassa. Miitillä ei ole virallista alkamis- tai päättymisaikaa. Yhdistyksen väkeä on paikalla klo 19 alkaen aina sinne saakka, kun osallistujia on paikalla. Joten tule kun ehdit, et ole myöhässä tullessasi myöhäänkään.

Lämmittelymiittiin osallistuvat saavat miittikuorensa jo Seaportissa, muut M/S Amorellalla.

Huomioithan, että ravintolan keittiö suljetaan kello 22.00. Baari on auki puoleen yöhön saakka.
